# Specifying the Default Governing Code for Future Project Files

How to set the default governing code and design standards applied to new ENERCALC SEL project files.

## How do I specify the default Governing Code for future Project Files?

1. Open the project you want to modify and expand the *General* Division in the Project Manager.
2. Double-click the *Building Code Information* option.
3. In *Governing Code & Design Standards*, configure the desired Building Code and referenced standards.
4. Click *Set Default Codes and Standards for New Projects*.

All new Project Files created after this change will use the selected governing code and standards automatically. Existing Project Files are not affected.
