# Specifying the Governing Code for the Current Project File

How to specify the governing building code and design standards for the current project file.

How do I specify the Governing Code for the current Project File using IBC-referenced design standards?

1. Open the project you want to modify and expand the *General* Division in the Project Manager.
2. Double-click the *Building Code Information* option.
3. In Governing Code & Design Standards, select the required Building Code edition (e.g., IBC 2021).
4. Click *Sync design standards with selected IBC*. All design standard dropdowns will be automatically populated according to the selected IBC.
5. Click *Save & Close*.
6. Regenerate reports (File → Regenerate Reports) to apply the new code settings to any previously created reports.

How do I specify a custom Governing Code and Design Standards for the current Project File?

1. Open the project you want to modify and expand the *General* Division in the Project Manager.
2. Double-click the *Building Code Information* option.
3. In Governing Code & Design Standards, select the required Building Code edition (e.g., IBC 2021).
4. Manually select each referenced standard from the dropdown menus as required by your AHJ.
5. Click *Save & Close*.
6. Regenerate reports (File → Regenerate Reports) to apply the new code settings to any previously created reports.
