# Message Says Software is Already Activated

What the software-is-already-activated message means and how to resolve it under the old activation system.

When I try to activate I get a message that the software is already activated. What does this mean?

This is a common question for our OLD activation system in Version 6.1.03 and earlier. It indicates that you activated the software on one computer and did not deactivate before attempting activation on a different computer. If your MSP is currently active, the solution is to install the current version, which uses our new activation system. If your MSP is not active then you are probably using Version 6.1.03 or older. If this is the case, you must “Internet Deactivate” your other computer.

If you happen to have a computer failure, please contact technical support.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.enercalc.com/sel-faq/setup-and-licensing/installation-activation-lice/troubleshooting/message-says-software-is-alrea.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
