# Could Not Initialize

What a Could Not Initialize startup message means and how to re-register ENERCALC's ActiveX components.

## I get a “Could not initialize...." message when starting the software. What does this mean?

The software will provide the following messages upon startup if there are problems registering ActiveX components:

* “Could not initialize the RTF subsystem! Division coversheet and calc trak not available.”
* “Could not initialize MS work and excel subsystem! Ability to add files in project manager is unavailable.”
* “Could not initialize graphics sub system! Sketches will not be available.”

These indicate that the installation system was unable to register some ActiveX components for some reason. ActiveX components have a file extension of "OCX".

Please make sure you see this file in the ENERCALC installation folder: MDraw30.ocx

If the file exists in the ENERCALC installation folder, then after you start the software, please click Settings > Utilities > Register ActiveX Modules in the main menu.
